Heaven...

... Is being able to spend all afternoon in the living room, a movie playing on the plasma, the air conditioner humming, a good book i my hand, myself curled up happily on the sofa and indulging in both book and movie, or neither. Add to that Mum's cooking for dinner, and the fact that I can be so happy and relaxed on a weekday.

I love mid-semester break. And no, I refuse to do a single ounce of work during this break. Erm. Except for those 3 interviews and distributing questionnaires for FYP. Argh, kacau je. Ah well. That won't take that long anyway.

Home, sweet home.

Cockroach Hysteria

It's an infestation. But I'm not surprised... for 2 reasons:

a) Our house is next to the jungle. No freaking wonder we get giant mutant flying cockroaches. Eh, that sounds like the Ninja Turtles theme song... Giant Mutant Flying Roaches, Giant Mutant Flying Roaches...

b) Our house is filthy. Seriously my housemates are disgusting. The fridge smells weird, I don't know what expired objects they have left to rot in there. Used plates and cutlery can sit in the kitchen sink (and sometimes even in the bathroom) for two days or more. And when they wash, they empty out their food just like that. Mana la sink x tersumbat. Yuck.

In the past 4-5 days, I've seen 4 or 5 cockroaches. Come let's share stories...

Cockroach 1:

I went into hysteria. It ws in my room, it was HUGE (the size of my palm) and it was FLYING. I ran out of my room. I came back a few minutes later, it had disappeared from sight, but I just KNEW it was still in the room. So I changed quickly, went out of the house, took a walk around utp for an hour, then went back. In that hour, I had a fight with my boyfriend, who didn't understand why I was so hysterical over a bug (settled fight edy). Guys. It's called a phobia, geddit? Phobias aren't supposed to be rational.

Cockroach 2:

Saw it in the bathroom. I was putting on my contact lens. I didn't see it before I wore them... I'm blind without lens. Put on the first one, saw the cockroach staring at me, moved to a different sink, hurriedly put on the second lens, then skedaddled on out of the bathroom.

Cockroach 3:

In my room again, exactly the same as Cockroach 1. Might have been the same one, for all I know. Saw it fly into the space between my bed and the wall. Freaked out mightily, because no way in heck was I going to sleep with the high chances of a cockroach walking over my face while I slept. The last straw. Went out with my roommate to 7-Eleven at 3am, bought roach spray. Emptied out a third of the can on the crevices between our beds and the walls, though we weren't even sure the cockroach was still there.

Cockroach 4:

Saw it in the bathroom at night, when I was going to brush my teeth. Turned around, went back to my room, replaced my toothbrush, toothpaste and facial wash. Picked up the roach spray, walked back to the bathroom. As calmly as I could (which wasn't very), I emptied out another third of the can on the roach. It fell into a mug that was sitting on the sink and promptly died, drowning in the water that was in the mug. Btw, said mug had been sitting on the sink for about a week, with a spoon and some dirty water in it. So serves them right for getting a dead roach in it.

If it had happened to me, I would have thrown away the mug. Or if I really really wanted to keep the mug (not bloody likely), I would have thrown away the roach and scrubbed it clean immediately. Not so the lucky mug owner. About a day later, I saw the mug in the kitchen sink, minus the roach, but still with the spoon and the dirty water, and clearly not washed. Some people just don't learn.

Cockroach 5:

They were baking cupcakes in the kitchen, then I heard some commotion. Apparently there was a roach in the kitchen. I didn't bother to look, I didn't want to know.

A cockroach a day keeps the... what the hell. It doesn't keep anything away. I want the roaches themselves to keep away. Get rid of them!!

High on Caffeine, So High I Can Touch The Sky

My roomie took me out shopping today... hari ber-bonding dgn rumet =P

Went to Ipoh Gardens, walked around the boutiques there. I found this really cute maxi dress, just the type I've been wanting. Was so afraid it was gonna be too long - most of the maxi dresses I've seen are. (I hate being short.) This one, when I tried, was the perfect length. And, guess what? Only RM40. BUY!! hehe

And for whatever reason, the maxi dress makes me look a little taller. And slimmer. Optical illusion, I guess. Or maybe I'm delusional. haha And YAY I finally have a maxi. Now where do I wear it to? lolz

Then went to F.O.S. at Ipoh Parade. Bought a plain white T and two tank tops. RM49. omg I'm so broke now. omg bimbonya post ni. ahem.

ANYWAY. Am now blogging from Starbucks, where the wireless internet connection is a dream. Stupid UTP. How the heck am I supposed to do my progress report for my final year project when the internet connection at UTP is non-existent??

Luckily Reen had the brilliant idea of coming here. hehe.

Not really a fan of Starbucks, and I rarely go. Not a fan of coffee. So I ordered iced lemon tea (which had some super-fancy name, padahal it's only iced lemon tea =__=)

After I paid, the lady told me to take my drink from the counter. So I went. And I grabbed the drink that was there. Chucked in a straw, started sipping. Brought it over to my corner, where Reen and me had already set up our laptops.

"... ... ... Apasal iced lemon tea ni rasa cam coffee..."

Sure enough, the guy from the counter came over, carrying a cup in his hand.

"'scuse me, but that's not your drink... this is."

omg, malu gile. I'm so n00b. =___=

Luckily the guy was nice, and let me keep the drink I already took, plus my actual drink... which actually did taste like iced lemon tea. hahaha

But omg... even the tea had like a tonne of caffeine in it. And I didn't want to waste the coffee-thing, so I drank it too. Now I remember why I don't like coffee, or anything with coffee in it.

My throat feels funny and I'm shivering nonstop. Two large doses of caffeine. I can barely think or type coherently. Confirm x tdo mlm ni.

On the other hand, I got to log in to facebook and gmail, for the first time in a week. 99 facebook notifications, and 68 unread e-mails. >__>

ok, I'm supposed to be searching for articles for FYP. Not blogging, facebook-ing, email reading, blog reading... urgh. This is what happens when you've been deprived of internet for a week. You go crazy when you finally get it again. Or maybe it's just me.

Please excuse the lack of coherency, I am very the high on caffeine.

Coveting

Blog Plug: I stumbled across hijabulous in the process of writing this post. I had no idea there were fashion blogs dedicated to Muslim women. I found it... interesting. I guess people can still wear pretty things even with the strict dress code. Check it out! She has links to other Muslim fashion blogs as well. =)

Remember that time when I was coveting those swimsuits? and that other time when I was coveting the long-sleeved bolero? (of which, the bolero crave has been satisfied - the swimsuit one has yet to be fulfilled) haha

Now I'm coveting something else. Been looking at them for quite some time, actually.

Maxi dresses!! (not maxi pads, ok. I have enough of those to last me quite a long time =__=)

Keira Knightley wearing a maxi dress, which I adore.

I lovelovelove maxi dresses. Because they're so pretty. And flowy. And girly. Andandand... just pretty =D

see how happy she is to have a maxi dress. please let me be that happy too =D

I really really want one. Hafez can tell you, I won't shut up about them. Whenever I enter a store, the first thing I look for are the dresses. haha

This dress is simple, but really pretty =D

But I haven't been able to find one I like. I want something... flowery, maybe? Or paisley? If it has tiers (not too many, though) even better. aaahhh...

A little unusual, but still kind of cool - animal print maxi. Rawr.

Possibility of me getting one soon is very high. Been resisting buying one so far because my cash is limited. But Hafez just got his money, and he said he wants to buy me something. Hence the dress =D ok wat, the dress will probably cost between RM60-80.

damn la, this is one of my favs so far that google images gave me. I heart!

Can't wait to go shopping for the dress. whee~

On the other hand, I'm not quite sure where I would wear that to. UTP = geekland, so kind of weird to wear that to classes, no matter how summery and casual the print of the dress is. And Ipoh is dead town, so dressing up to go to the mall is like wearing a ball gown to Taipan. Or Summit. ahhh, you know what I mean. =___=

But we'll leave the practicality of the dress aside. Pretty and practical almost never go together. Really. But I still want that dress, goddammit D=

Oh, a little something else I've been coveting.

Mikimoto single strand pearl bracelet

Ok la, the price tag might not be so little.

A bit too many 0s for me to be wanting it now. sigh. Wait la another 10 years or so.

But I wannntt... at least, let me be able to wear one for my wedding day. (cehwah, belum grad pn dah pikir nk kahwin, haha). Remember har... must have. Otherwise cannot marry (wat kind of condition is this?? >__>). Diamonds not necessary, but pearls are a must for me. Boyfriend, please take note. XP

ok, bimbo post. But then again, I need to remind people once in a while that I'm a girl. Just in case you forget. You know. My guy friends seem to forget, sometimes. I may not be pretty, but I am still female. Or something. >__>

Credit for photos of dresses goes to Google Images. The bracelet image came from the Mikimoto website. None of these are my own. Like duh. If I could afford to take pictures of models wearing dresses and expensive bracelets, I could just as well buy them rather than just covet. Or so my logic goes. I'm not too sure how logical that is either. Oh well.
