"I'm getting a new iPod... who wants my old iPod Nano?" my dad asked one day.
"No thanks," Aris said. He was perfectly happy with his brand new 1GB capacity Phillips mp3 player. It's not like he has that many songs to listen to anyway. But it looks nice la, can play videos and all.
"I'm fine with mine," Nina said. Hers stores about 2GB. I forgot what brand... Samsung or something. She loves that thing to death.
I figured Hasif would want the iPod, since he complains about the small 512MB capacity of his Kreative mp3 player constantly. I was perfectly willing to take if off his hands if he wanted the iPod. I like Kreative mp3 players, and I've used that particular one for a while. The capacity doesn't really bother me, since I have the tendency to change songs practically every day. And even if I get bored with the songs, it has a radio, which I like. Flirty @ 10.30, anyone? XD
Owh, but before we go any further, I should probably tell you about my belated mp3 player, who passed away about half a year ago. It was a Zen Stone, really really cute, about the size of a small pebble. I loved that thing. It was 1GB, the largest capacity I'd ever had for an mp3 player. Didn't matter that it had no screen, so I could never choose my songs, or sometimes even tell what song was playing if it was a new song I hadn't listened to much before. But the cuteness made up for it so much, I can tell you XD (Yes, this is a person who emphasizes cuteness over functionality every time. You can so tell just by looking at my mobile phone, haha)
Anywaaaay, my darling Zen Stone, whom I dubbed Pebbles, died from drowning. You see, in the end it's small size and cuteness (as well as my own carelessness) proved to be its own undoing. On one fateful day, when I came home feeling tired and stressed and eager to jump into the shower, I stripped and chucked my jeans into the washing machine, forgetting in my haste that Pebbles was still in the jeans pocket. Thus, Pebbles met the same end as many of my tamagotchis did during the years of my childhood - death by washing machine. >__>
Back to the question of "Who wants an iPod?". Hasif, to my surprise, said "No." He didn't want an iPod. He was anti-Apple. And Nina agreed with him. Weee-ell, I guess you can say that I sort of started the anti-Apple sentiment, seeing as how I dissed Apple users as "snobby" constantly.
So when I said I wanted the iPod (hey, I've gone nearly a year without an mp3 player. I desperately wanted one. iPod - why not?), they all yelled, "TRAITOR!!!"
That was shortly after I first came home, about two weeks ago. The new iPod arrived last night, and I saw it sitting on the dining room table (i.e. our dining table that is never used as a dining table, but as a work/study table and mini-cybercafe instead). Dad, who as always was on his laptop, looked up for a while, pointed at the iPod, still in it's casing, and said, "That's yours."
"Seriously? I thought I was taking your old one?" I asked, surprised.
"Nope."
*swt* Dad, the man of few words. Owh, well. I still don't get it myself, but... new iPod Nano! Yay! XD
Dad passed me the installer for iTunes on my thumbdrive, and soon got busy exploring the iPod. Nice la. It's an iPod, for crying out loud. They're like the most hyped over mp3 players in the market, they can't be that without good reason. So far, what I like about it the most is the battery - "it lasts practically forever," my dad said. My previous mp3 players had the sad lifespan of 2-3 hours. The Zen Stone was a bit better than that, 4 -5 hours, if memory serves me. I wouldn't rely on my memory too much if I were you, though.
Anyway. I'm sorry, I have the horrible penchant of running off track a lot. That's why people don't usually read my blogs, you see. They only come in short gushes when I happen to write a post about something "sensational", like Euphonious or Mr. Azhan. Erm, Mr. Azhan? Sensational? LMAO. But you know what I meant. I think. ... And there I go again.
ANYWAY. Haiyo. The iPod Nano my dad got for me is 4GB, silver colour. Smart, get a neutral colour. Those fancy colours like green or blue (or worse, pink) are a bit more difficult to pass on secondhand to other people. Take my pink mobile phone, for instance. Ahem. My iPod Nano can apparently play videos as well, it's just that haven't tried it out yet. Ahaha. I'm technologically challenged, you see. It will take me some time to figure it out. (If you're looking for an informative review on mp3 players... this is THE WRONG BLOG. Get out now while your sanity is still intact! Oops, should have probably warned you several hundred paragraphs ago. Hiks XD)
Also fun was that the iPod came with a couple of Apple logo stickers. I laughed when I saw them. "What am I gonna do with these, stick 'em on my forehead??"
"Kisu stuck hers on her desktop. She said since she can't get a Mac, that's the next best thing," Nina told me. Kisu's one of her best friends la.
I briefly considered sticking the Apple sticker over my cracked Acer logo on my 3-year old laptop (which many people like to tell me is "obsolete", despite the fact that it still works just FINE. How would you like it if next time I come over to your baby's 3rd birthday party and tell you he/she is obsolete? "Those sepet eyes are so obsolete, darrrrling. You should have opted for large and round, those features are more in style now."). But nah. It would just look weird and tacky =__=
And that ends my long and happy rant about my new iPod. Whee~
Later that night, my Mum sliced some apples for us to eat. Good for health, and yummy too.
I called for my sister to come have some.
"NINNNAAAAaaaaa!! Eat apples! They're good for you!!"
Silence.
"... ... ..."
"DON'T YOU DARE EAT MY iPOD!!"
